Day 22: 30 Days of Gratitude - Rach & Tony

Rach & Tony: December 2010
Nothing like an extended Christmas travel layover to make your day.   My wonderful friends Rachael and Tony stopped in SLC on their way home to Washington for Christmas.  We were able to spend 7 glorious hours together.    The extended SLC layover has become a bit of a tradition for Rach and I.   The first time she took Tony home to meet her family, we had a quick reunion at the security line (where upon meeting Tony for the first time,  I may have done an impromptu tap dance...what can I say...I dance when I am nervous).  We have also managed quick lunches, snatch & grab shopping trips and home tours all condensed into a couple of stolen (inside time) hours.   On this trip we were lucky enough to have dinner with friends old and new as well as a quick trip through Temple Square to see the lights.

Rach, often referred to as Bibe, is one of  my favorite people in the whole wide world.   We have been friends since fall semester1997 when we bonded over the Practical Grammar Review in Business Writing at BYU (as you can see from my blog...none of that grammar nonsense stuck).

Our real glory days took place in the Michigan a couple years later when Bibe decided to take an offer at Ford Motor Company and move to Michigan where I was working for Ford as well.  I had no idea what a lucky set up circumstances had been just been set in motion.   We soon became close friends a nearly inseparable dynamic duo.   I  have been very lucky to have wonderful close friends to share my life with.  However, I found upon moving to Michigan that I was missing that special connection you feel with your best friends....it is these people who make our life experiences richer by sharing them.   Rachael was truly an answer to my prayers.

We soon set off to make the very most of our early twenties.  As two single women with few responsibilities and more cash flow than we were accustomed to...we were a force to be reckoned with.  Bibe is one of those people who with just a little convincing is up for anything......paired with my craziness and short attention span...we were always embarking on a new adventure.  Whether it be trips to foreign countries, white water rafting, random church activities, dancing in the rain, ward camp outs, local concerts, Christmas Soirees, Sunday dinners, errand running, carpooling (and reverse carpooling) to work, trips to the lake or just taking a walk....all these things were infinitely more fun because we did them together.

Over the years we have grown up and slowed down a little bit but our friendship remains the same.  I still love sitting with Bibe and chatting for hours about the same things we have chatted about for years.   She has been a rock in the crazy storm of my life when I so much needed one.  I appreciate Rachael's special ability to understand me, support me and encourage me to take the next step when my own courage fails.   She has the most amazing ability to invite people into her world and make you feel welcome.  In addition, I love Bibe's ability to be silly without reservation which we do so well together....when the "Rachael and Jocelyn Show" is in full swing be sure to  reserve a front row seat because this is going to be good.   Thanks Rach for the wonderful memories of the past of the amazing memories to come.  Love Ya.

I am so glad you found each other. I am a little frightened to see the show live... Usually I just get the post chat. She has been good for you.
